Down to Earth, the film that started it all, was screened at the European Parliament in July. In a vital event on global climate justice, Down to Earth brought the voices that matter the most into the heart of European decision-making.

In the middle of the tragic news of lives being lost due to heatwaves, fires and floods across Europe, the event was a crucial reminder that this is only a fraction of the impacts felt in other parts of the world - and especially by younger generations.
CRUX was represented by Hanna, who shared about the vision behind the film and moderated a panel discussion on the EU's role in the face of climate change and its disproportionate impacts.
The event was co-hosted by Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Sirpa Pietikäinen and the Institute for European Environmental Policy, and other speakers included leaders, politicians and a climate activist.
Quote by MEP Pietikainen: "The event featured the screening of "Down to Earth", a short youth-produced documentary that captures stories about the effects of climate change from across the world. The film isn't about opinions, ideologies or fearmongering, but rather about the genuine effects of climate change already felt by billions of people across the world."
Down to Earth was always aimed at capturing the present reality of climate change to inspire meaningful change, and the Parliament represents the audience it most needed to reach. As CRUX, this is what we mean by changing the world with stories, rather than just telling them.
Some policy takeaways that the discussions after the film screening concluded:
Ensuring that the simplification agenda does not mean deregulation of climate policies
Addressing external spillovers of the European Union's green policies and supporting global climate justice
Enhancing data monitoring on consumption and implementing demand-side measures
Reforming economic incentives and redirecting fossil fuel subsidies
